Looks Like Microsoft will Dilute “Windows Phone” as a Brand

No, don’t worry, Microsoft is not abandoning Windows Phone but it seems “Windows Phone” as a brand is going out. I have some strong reasons to believe that:

Windows Phone India is now known as Windows India and is now the central twitter account for all Windows Phone News.

HTC One M8 for Windows. This title sounded wrong but it companies like this don’t make mistake in the title. Also the reviews for the device were posted as WINDOWS and not Windows Phone

Adverts of Lumia 930 in UK, doesn’t end with Windows Phone at the end but instead Windows gets displayed which was not the case with 1020. via Michaell Gillet

What seems to be happening is the idea of “ÖNE WINDOWS” is bring branded now. So your phone is still running Windows and its running on phone which makes it as Windows Phone not as “Windows Phone” running on your phone.

That said, Microsoft is already working on next version of Windows which will make the whole experience seamless between devices making it possible for apps, files,settings to sync across. A lot of apps are already work on both on Windows PC and Windows Phone and Microsoft has vision of “One Experience for everything in your life”.

While looking at the conversation around on twitter around this topic, I would agree to one more point. Most of the people around me has always said all the Windows Phone as “Do they come with Windows? or Is that “Windows”. For them it was always a phone running Windows, not “Windows Phone”
