Lumia 625 Final Review & Winner of Nokia Coloud Pop (Day 10)

So we are on the last day of our review, which I have mostly completed if you have been following the series. So what am I going to talk about in this post? Nothing much honestly and it’s going to just some discussion and will bring down all the points under one roof. Good for those who don’t like series stuff and just need one post talking about things.

Oh Yes! I forgot and today we have selected one of you who made the comments in our review series as winner of Nokia Coloud Pop which we reviewed few days ago.

Lumia 625 10 Day Challenge

Display, Screen and Build Quality:

The screen is IPS LCD with Corning Gorilla glass 2. This combination makes sure that your swiping experience is good and durability is longer as it is less resistant to scratches. The display is empowered with sunlight readability but because it misses the Clear Black Display, you won’t feel its presence.

Gaming Performance:

Having an Adreno 302 GPU, the same one which was used on Lumia 620 and processor power of 1.2 GHz, the games are buttery smooth. The load time is less and the screen refresh rate is impressive. I played Asphalt 7 Heat and with tons of wrecking the phone did not disappointed me. Also the phone does not get hot at all which is a major plus compared to Lumia 920.

Music & Video Performance:

Watching a movie on such a big screen was just a bliss. I really miss it from entertainment perspective when comparing it with my Lumia 920. The screen is bright and HD movies where running just good. I used the Your Movies app to watch movies and they worked just fine.

Also the music is pleasing because of Dolby and equalizer support for Lumia 625. Though using it over speaker did not turn out to be well on high volumes. Good for occasional usage.

Battery Life :

Lumia 625 houses a 2000 mAh battery power, just 200 mAh less compared to Lumia 920. This was quite obvious because of huge screen size and built for entertainment factor. The phone lasts between 10 to 12 hours on an average on 3G. I have jotted down a every day report which many of you would love to see.

Phone Performance:

The phone packs in a mid-ranged hardware i.e. better than Lumia 720, 620 and 520. It has 1.2 GHz of processor speed and packs in a GPU which did well on Lumia 620 too, making sure games performed well. These are the two reasons why I can say it performs well despite being a low end phone.

Camera Quality:

The camera is really a bummer for Lumia 625. Having a poor 5MP camera reflects badly on its profile and most of the images taken during day light aren’t sharp enough. Most of them are soft and night performance is something which I will not talk about at all. Though flash can help you compensate a bit but Lumia 720 just beats 625 by a large margin.

More details with camera sample here.

Call Quality:

The audio is pretty much clear and the speakers are loud. So receiving a call over handset or over speakers would not be a problem.

Concluding:

Lumia 625 is a great device when it comes to entertainment and that’s why I have drummed about Video, Music, Gaming and reading eBooks on it. It is also the cheapest device to bring 4G on your Lumia which none of the other phones have. Big screen, good battery life and exclusive apps make it an attractive phone to buy.

However the phone does have a big time problem with reading or watching a movie because of the amount of reflection during daylight when you are outside. I use a Lumia 920 and I know how much difference Clear Black Display makes. Another problem with Lumia 625 is the storage space. It’s a low-end phone but keeping in mind its built for entertainment, Nokia could have packed in  16 GB of phone memory instead of just 8 GB. Since none of the apps can go beyond phone storage space, it will be a difficult choice for entertainment buffs.
