Lumia 950 XL & 950 getting Firmware Update; GPS & Call Audio Improvements
Lumia 950 XL, and Lumia 950 are getting new firmware update, globally, which brings in bug fixes, and stability on the devices. The device has received mixed experience from known reviewers around the world, and Microsoft is constantly rolling out updates to fix them. This is the second update we are have seen for the device. Lumia 950 XL runs Windows 10 Mobile out of the box, and had its first update last December.
To check for the update, go to Settings > Update & Recover > Phone Update and check for the update. Once available, you will see it listed as “MICROSOFTMDG Update”. The version of the update is 01078.00038.16025.390xx, and key improvements in this release include:
- Stability fixes.
- Improvements for GPS reliability.
- Improvements for call audio quality.
As always, the availability of this update may depend on your phone model, region or network service provider. We have seen this update for India for sure, and have about some other countries as well including Finland, Sweden, Italy, and many others. In US where the carrier dependency is huge, users are still waiting on AT & T. I am guessing this should show up rather quickly as Microsoft have been bypassing the carries, but keeping in mind that there is a call audio improvement, and GPS update, this may take sometimes.
It is possible that Windows Insiders may not get the update, so it is better to wait till the update is rolled out to them. Otherwise you will need to get back to production level update, to get this, and thats too much work in my opinion. More here
