Press Release :
New Zealand based start-up brings Windows Phone YouTube experience on par with Android and iOS
Christchurch, New Zealand, 29th November, 2011 – Lazyworm Applications, developers of the first and most popular 3rd party YouTube app on Windows Phone, today announced the release of ‘Metrotube’ – a Windows Phone YouTube application that has been specifically designed to take advantage of the latest 7.5 (Mango) OS update. The app has just gone live on the Marketplace and can be found via MetrotubeApp.com.
“The majority of smartphone users expect a rich YouTube experience. With Microsoft unable to support the service due to Google access restrictions, the official app is currently nothing more than a link to m.youtube.com which is far from ideal. We’ve made it our mission to deliver the best possible YouTube experience to Windows Phone users.” says Atta Elayyan, Managing Director at Lazyworm Applications. “By strictly adhering to ‘Metro’ design principles and sourcing feedback from members of the Windows Phone design team, we’ve been able to deliver what you’d expect from an official app.”
Metrotube gives users the ability search, browse and stream YouTube video content while managing their personal YouTube accounts. Added Windows Phone 7.5 features include the ability to ‘pin’ secondary tiles such as videos, playlists, authors, subscriptions and favourites to the phone’s start screen. Tiles with dynamic content update in real-time. ‘Fast app switching’ and ‘smooth scrolling’ are other features taken advantage of from the platform update.
Unlike its predecessor ‘LazyTube’, Metrotube also gives users the ability to manage playlists, stream videos in LQ, HQ and HD, search authors and view detailed author information.
Metrotube is a rebrand of ‘LazyTube’ (paid version) and ‘YouTube’ (free version) in an attempt to unify the
Lazyworm Applications product line and highlight the major changes these applications have undergone.
