Microsoft Announces Cross-Network Play Support On Xbox One & Xbox Live
Microsoft has worked towards cross-platform availability of everything-everywhere, and today the company has made a significant announcement for game developers. Microsoft is enabling features in their Xbox Live Services that will make sure developers will able to support cross-platform play in their games. This means players on Xbox One & Windows 10 will be able to play with players on different online multiplayer networks like PS4, other console and PC networks.
Since most of the game developers get their games on platforms like Xbox and Play Station, it adds to a great benefit for them to engage more consumers together. Of course, it’s up to game developers to support this feature, and Xbox Live players will always have the option of choosing to play only with other Xbox Live players.
Psyonix’s Rocket League will be one of the first games to take advantage of this new capability by enabling cross-network play between Xbox One and PC players, with an open invitation for other networks to participate as well.
This is definitely a great news for the whole gaming ecosystem as we will see players across network, and consoles engaging with themselves which will not only bring a lot of variation, but will also bridge the gap of PS4 & Xbox Players. Xbox & Windows 10 PC gamers are already getting closer with Xbox One features, and this will pave the path for greater good.
