Many printers support both side printing, but it may happen when you try to print a PDF file or any other file; the option doesn’t appear either in the print dialogue or in the printer settings. In this post, we will look at how to fix the problem where Microsoft Edge can’t find Print on both sides when printing PDF or any other document.
Microsoft Edge can’t find Print on both sides when printing PDF or any other document.
While we are talking about Microsoft Edge, but if the Printer settings do not have a double-sided print option enabled, you will not be able to print using any software. That includes Office documents, Adobe Documents, Firefox, Edge, Chrome, or any other print interface.
Open Windows 10 Settings and navigate to Devices > Printers & Scanners. Select your printer, and click on the Manage button. Next, Select Printer Properties
In the Printer Properties window, under the General tab, check if you have the setting—Double-sided set as No. If this is the case, you need to change a setting in the Device Settings tab. Even if your printer supports double sides, your printer will think you don’t have double-sided printing capabilities.
Switch to Device Settings, and expand the Install Options. Click on the drown down next to Duplex Unit, and change it to Installed. Once you click the OK button for this dialog box, the setting will be saved and all other software apps using your printer.
Setting up Flip on Long Edge and Flip on Short Edge
In the Printer Properties window, under the General tab, click on the Preferences button. Under the Layout tab, change the Print option on Both sides from None to either Flip on Long Edge and Flip on Short Edge.
These options will also become available when you print, but if you want it as default, this is where you need to change.
Once all this is updated, these settings will be available to every app that can print. You will be able to print on the double side.
What are Flip on Long Edge and Flip on Short Edge printing options?
When you are printing a document that will be flipped like a book, select Flip on Long Edge, but if you will flip like a calendar, then select a short edge.
Which is best for double-sided printing? Choose a long edge and flip when printing on portrait orientation. However, if you are using landscape, then choose short edge.
I hope the post was easy to follow, and you were able to fix the problem—Microsoft Edge can’t find Print on both sides when printing PDF or any other document.
My HP printer settings show double sided as “Yes” but Microsoft Print to PDF says “No” and doesn’t allow me to change the settings!
So if I print a 2 sided PDF doc with Edge it won’t but print it using Adobe and it does!!!!!!
