Microsoft India Lists Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 Xl Coming Soon; Skips Lumia 550

Microsoft announced Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL today in its charismatic event of Windows 10 devices, and while there is no clarity on when the devices will become available, Microsoft India has listed the DUAL SIM variants of both the phones as “Coming Soon”  on the website. Interesting to note that Microsoft India hasn’t listed Lumia 550 yet which is one of the affordable devices and can attract a lot of attention in Indian market which has huge demand for this particular segment.

So does that mean the devices will hit the shelves soon ? Well when it comes to India, Microsoft really don’t have a very good track record (Remember the Lumia 920 ?) but keeping in mind  that Diwali, India’s Biggest Festive season is in November, we hope that the devices come around that time.

That said, How much will be phones will cost in India? The easiest way to figure that out is to convert the dollar pricing to Rupees. Lumia 950 XL is officially priced at  US $649 which roughly converts to Rs 42,350 , and Lumia 950 is priced at $549 which converts to  Rs 35,822 approximately. I expect Microsoft to come with some aggressive pricing.

When it comes to accessories, Microsoft India has listed the  Microsoft Display Dock “HD 500” as well which also points that this is also coming to India though I am highly sceptical about its availability.

So are these pricing even justified? Well tough to say because there is a lot of competition in India, but keeping mind the kind of hardware the phones are coming with, it’s definitely not going down without a fight.

Coming back to Lumia 550, My best guess is that this device will come to India next year along with few more devices if Microsoft have them queued.
