Microsoft Launches Lumia 640 XL 4G LTE for Rs 17,399

The Lumia 640XL made it’s entry into India back in April after it was announced at the MWC 2015. Microsoft had launched the 3G version of the 640XL for 15799 and now the company had announced the 4G LTE variant of Lumia 640XL for Rs 17399. 4G has been catching up in India and the company didn’t want to leave out with devices supporting only 4G.

The Lumia 640XL is the mid range phablet which replaced the Lumia 1320 in India.

The rest of the specs of the device remain the same and it comes with a 5.7 inch HD screen with resolution of 720p. Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, clocked at 1.2GHz, the phone comes with 1 GB RAM and 8 GB internal storage. It also houses a 13MP front camera capable of  shooting video at and a front camera of 5MP for video calls. It has a battery of 3000mAh which makes sure you get enough power to last for a day.

At the launch, Microsoft Mobile Devices, Director (Sales), South, T S Sridhar said:

“We understand the needs of the Indian consumers and with the Lumia range we have always focused on complementing the needs of the customers across segments by delivering new experiences and features. Lumia 640XL LTE is power packed offering great productivity at power of 4G”

The device will be available across retail stores. We are not sure why Microsoft chose to increase the price and launch a different model instead of releasing a software update to enable 4G on the device.
