Microsoft Lumia 550 Unboxing & First Impression

Microsoft Lumia 550 is the first Budget Windows 10 Mobile device which is selling in India at a price of Rs 9,100 at retail stores. We managed to pick one, and had a good look at both white, and the black version. While white is Glossy finish, and my personal favourite, only black was available. Below is the unboxing, followed by first impression of the device:

Fist Impression:

Unlike the Lumia 950 XL and Lumia 950, this phone has better build quality, and closely resembles the Lumia 630 for its design, specially on the sides. It felt pretty solid, and very comfortable when holding with one hand, thanks to its  4.7 inch screen size.

I was surprised to discover that Lumia 550 is a single SIM phone, as Indian market is really popular for DUAL SIM phones. The phone does support 4G, but it supports only 1800 band as of now. Telecoms like  Airtel also uses 2300 band for their LTE network.

When it come to design, it’s a very standard one. The front houses the screen ( no Gorilla glass) with ambient sensor, and a  2 MP front camera. There are no capacitive buttons, and you get on-screen buttons. The rear houses a 5 MP camera with LED flash, and a speaker at the bottom. You have volume knockers on the side, with power button. The box comes with a regular charger, and an earphone which are very basic. There is no data cable.

The phone is powered by Snapdragon 210 Quad Core Processor @ 1.1 Ghz with Adreno 304. You get 1 GB RAM and 8 GB internal storage. If I compare this with Lumia 640 and 540, the overall specs is low compared to its predecessors, and Android counterparts.

I will hold my comments till my final review which is next week. Let us know if you have any question, and do subscribe to our channel at http://youtube.com/wpxbox
