Microsoft Planning to Combine Windows Phone Store and Windows Store into one

Microsoft is planning to combine its Windows Phone Store and Windows Store into a single app store as reported by Verge. As per the new information available, Microsoft’s Terry Myerson, head of the operating systems group, is looking to merge the Windows Phone store and the Windows 8 store into one in 2014, probably with the release of Windows Phone 8.1.

As of now there is no information on how the stores will work post the merge, like whether the Windows Phone apps will be available on Windows 8.1 or not.

This could probably work the App Store way, where you can install phone apps on tablet as it scales to the size, but tablet apps are not available for Phone. Now that there are so many similarities between the two platform and Microsoft’s move to make them more linked, we can definitely see the store getting unified in 2014.
