Microsoft Rolls out Firmware Update for Lumia 950 & 950 XL to Improve Performance & Stability

A lot many users have complained about Lunia 950 XL being slow, and having bugs that should not have been on a flagship device. Well, this is what happens when you don’t announce RTM, and need to get a flagship device out in time.

Good news is that Microsoft is finally rolling out a firmware update which can fix most of the problems consumers where facing including stability, and performance improvements. I would also like to see how much battery performance has improved as well.

What’s new in this Firmware Update (01078.00027.15506.020xx)

  • Stability and performance improvements.
  • Improvements for SD memory card support.
  • Improvements for automatic display brightness settings.
  • Fix for a camera problem that was causing noisy images in low-light conditions for some users.
  • Fix for a 4K video problem that was causing stripes to show up while playing back recorded videos for some users.

That said, this is getting rolled out in phases. If your phone is set for automatic update, you can just quietly sit, and wait for the prompt, or go to Settings > Update and Security > Phone Update >Check for updates. Also it is possible that if your phone is carrier locked, the update might take a bit of time, though we expected Microsoft to bypass it completely.
