Microsoft Rolls out Redstone 5 for Windows 10 with App Previews

Its almost time for Windows 10 Redstone 4 to graduate and Microsoft has already started rolling out the next development number, The Redstone 5. This start of the next 6 months cycle has also introduced the recently reported App Previews.

App Previews is Insiders for Apps only and will work without installing the Insiders version of the whole OS. Trying out an Insider version o matter which level it is doesn’t suit everyone, and this will be great for those users. As of now the following apps are supported

  • Feedback Hub, Microsoft Photos, Microsoft Sticky Notes,
  • Microsoft Tips, Paint 3D, Windows Alarms & Clock, Windows Calculator,
  • Windows Camera, Windows Mixed Reality Viewer, and Windows Voice Recorder

It is also expected that Redstone 5 is going to a much bigger update for Windows 10 which will be available later this year. That said, if you are wondering how Microsoft is rolling out RS5, then it’s the Skip Ahead option available with Windows Insider. This option allows you to skip the next matured update, and go ahead with the next development cycle.

Those who did not opt-in for Skip Ahead, Microsoft is rolling out build 17101 which brings in Ultimate Performance mode for Windows 10 Pro for Workstations, and other Enterprise capable devices. This mode or powerplant will offer a maximum performance by eliminating latencies at the macro level. More here
