Skype gets much awaited improvements; Syncs Across Devices
Skype after Microsoft acquisition still hasn’t got the attention it should have and its competitor like Viber are slowly but steadily going miles ahead with switching calls between devices, sync across devices and so on.
Seems like Microsoft and the Skype team behind this has started working on the plans and in its first wave, Sync across all the devices is being rolled out. When they sync, it means it syncs everything including seen messages so you aren’t wasting your time and nor is your partner as they switch between mobiles, PCs or tablets.
- Conversation Sync: Now all messages read and unread look same no matter where you are signed into Skype.
- Push Notification: The sync makes sure you aren’t getting notifications everywhere. Once seen on your desktop is seen on your mobile and vice versa. This keeps the delusion off that your partner actually responded back or it was ghost in the machine.
- Offline Messages: Similar to Facebook chat, messages can be received and sent even if somebody is offline. They get all your inputs as soon as they sign-in to one of the devices.
- Better Mobile experience: The apps are now optimized so they consume less battery but stay fast and work efficiently in the background so you don’t miss a call.
These changes are done on the server side which means your client has not been updated visually. However you will still have to download the latest version or update the existing app so these features can talk to each other.
