Are You Missing Nokia Music Stores in Nokia Mix Radio? Here is one App to Help you Out

I was pretty much excited with the new Nokia Music App which was re-branded as Nokia Mix Radio and since I usually listen to random songs and mostly mixes, I was pretty cool with it.

In India we have Unlimited subscription which lets Indian users download and listen to songs by paying as much as Rs 281 ( 6$)  for three months. However the music cannot be copied to any PC nor was it of high bit rate quality which was fair enough for the price and mobile internet conditions here.

Lately I have heard a lot of guys and some our WPXBOX fans complaining that the app has become completely useless. Some of you are completely lost.

That said, let’s first get to know couple of guys I asked who were using the Nokia Music App.

  • It was primarily for downloading music and complete albums.
  • It allowed users to latest albums, songs and latest stuff by artists using the stores option.
  • Users could tap to download individual song or entire album if they have unlimited subscriptions.
  • Play and Enjoy.

What happened now ?

Nokia Mix Radio does not have Stores any more. While I understand that it’s more inclined towards radio like service and mixes; there is no way to find out  the latest songs released and so on. The only option is to search for music by artist, album or click on the track history for the playlist but you still cannot figure out latest stuff.

This is disappointing for many users now because Nokia Music been like a feed for them to know what is new and they just had to hit the download button. If you keep Indian internet conditions, not many of us will be streaming but most will download songs here and then listen. Not sure how much of offline mixes are used but I am sure there will be set of users who use it and other will be mostly dependent on downloading music by album or individually.

So What do you do till then ?

While outside India it’s completely different scenario, in here, stores was something used heavily. While I am sure Nokia Mix Radio have this feedback already, till then I would recommend one app you can use which let’s get a store type discovery –Bollywood Song Hub–this app uses the same Nokia Mix Radio or the Nokia Music API and displays Latest Songs, Albums and Artist. The last one is basically the mixes but you can swipe to songs section and download if you want.

The app will only help you find out latest stuff and launch it in Nokia Mix Radio when you plan to download it. It’s only for discovery.
