MixRadio won’t allow Music Download from March 2015; Mixes and Live Stream Lives On

MixRadio, a very popular music service, is going through some major changes. In a recent email sent out to consumers, they have declared that all music download and purchases are being halted. Its a big decision for the company, but not surprised here because we expected it after it was recently acquired by Line.

Good news is that Offline Mixes and Live Streaming using the Play Me button will work as usual. I am pretty sure these two things will evolve and not die off.  This is what they say in their email:

“From March 2015 we’ll be suspending all operator billing and credit/debit card payments.

This means you won’t be able to purchase any new tracks or albums from our music store. Not to worry though, you’ll still be able to listen to all your purchased music and you can enjoy 100’s of mixes available for free with MixRadio.”

MixRadio been an awesome service for many, specially when it comes to music discovery, getting the kind of music you like and with offline mixes it just rocked for consumers where Internet is little costly. It also lets you know when your favourite artist has a new show and can even help you get tickets done. It also had a great presence world-wide compared to Xbox Music which is US only. I am sure many will miss and some of you won’t even bother.

MWC 2015 is upon us and MixRadio should make some announcement there. We will keep you posted.
