You need 2 GB of RAM to Run Instagram on Windows 10

Like Facebook and Messenger app for Windows 10, the Instagram App for Windows 10 will also need 2 GB of RAM on your Windows 10 Mobile or Windows 10 PC. This minimum requirement was recently updated, and since all of these apps are built using the same OSMeta technology used for all the apps from Facebook.

MSPU reports that it’s mostly because of two reasons. First, it’s a ported version of the iOS app. Surprisingly it runs fine on the 1GB of RAM on the iPhone 6. Second, it needs access to the camera for its primary social usage, but then I would say many apps need access to the camera, but they don’t ask for 2GB RAM.

While I would like that Facebook gets a separate dev team for Windows 10 development, but then when it comes to PCs, most of the users end up using a browser instead of the dedicated app. I tried, but then the browser just works for me. Windows 10 Mobile has already lost its share, and it just doesn’t make sense for them to invest.
