NFC App for Mobile World Congress Attendees
All those who are attending the Mobile World Congress 2013 this month end and holding a Windows Phone, MWC has released an NFC App for Windows Phone 8. There is lot of emphasis made on NFC everywhere in the event and this app will help you to cut the queue and get in fast.
Having an NFC Badge will allow you to:
- Validate your badge against Photo ID one time only, after which you may enter the event without further ID checks
- Pass through dedicated NFC Badge entrance lanes at the North and South Entrances
Step by step instructions for the Mobile World Congress NFC Badge
To participate and obtain your NFC Badge, you will need to:
- Once registered Windows Phone 8 (WP8) NFC Badge app.
- Log into the app using the same username (email) and password you used to create your GSMA Staff registration account
- Upload a passport quality photo of yourself to your NFC Badge
- You will be asked to show your photo ID upon collection of your physical badge, to validate your photo in the app and to confirm your identity
- Once your photo is validated, you may use any of the NFC Badge access lanes at the venue and enter the event without having to repeatedly show photo ID
- The application will show the status of your badge as red, amber or green – with green meaning fully validated and OK to use without your ID document.
The NFC Badge app is the official NFC application for entry to MWC13. It will enable you to enjoy ease-of-access during MWC at entrance lanes at the North and South Entrances without having to show photo-ID each time you enter (you will only need to show official photo-ID once to validate your NFC Badge).
To login to the NFC Badge app:
- Enter your username (email) and password used to create your Mobile World Congress registration account. If you have forgotten your password, use the “Forgot Password” option.
Once you have logged in you will be presented with 2 further actions which are represented by a colour coded status:
Upload a passport quality photo of yourself (this photo must be comparable with your official photo-ID which will be required once-only onsite to produce your physical badge and to validate your NFC Badge).
- Upload is simple, either from the NFC Badge app or from the NFC Experience section in your registration account .
- If you have already uploaded your photo when you first registered, your photo will appear once you have logged in to the app.
Validate your photo
This can only be performed at Mobile World Congress when you collect your physical badge.
- Please follow the instructions in your Final Confirmation email, which will direct you to the appropriate badge collection point and which provides registration opening times and other useful information. When you arrive in Barcelona you must:
- Show valid official photo-ID to collect your physical badge and to validate your uploaded photo
- Collect your physical badge (must be carried with you at all time to enter the event)
Your NFC Badge is validated. Once your badge is validated, you may use your NFC Badge to access the event through dedicated NFC Badge entrance lanes in the North and South Entrances without having to produce photo-ID.
Disclaimer : All the info above was sent to us over email and is posted as is. I am still unable to login using my ID in the app. Still trying to figure out what the web version works but not the app.
