If you are still hooked to either Windows Phone 7.5 or Windows Phone 8, here is last warning from Microsoft asking you to quit. The company has just announced that it’s ending the push notification services for both of them starting Today i.e. February 20th, 2018. This is not surprising because both of these versions of Mobile have reach end of their support, and services were about to be discontinued. The announcement was just to remind everyone.
What does turning off Push Notifications means for you?
Exactly what it says. No more notifications will show up from anywhere or any app you are still running on the phone. The tiles will no longer update, find my phone feature won’t work, and so on.
On February 20, 2018, Mobile Push Notification services will be turned off for Windows Phone 7.5 and Windows Phone 8.0. Once this happens: Your phone will no longer receive notifications. Your phone will not receive additional live tile updates. The “Find my phone” feature will no longer locate your phone. Windows Phone 7.5 and Windows Phone 8.0 have reached their end of support dates, and thus services for these versions of Windows will be discontinued over time.
That said, those who are on Windows 10 Mobile are still safe for a couple of years, and will only end when they reach end of their support
