Nokia Asha 503 Hands on (+ Camera Demo) — First 3G Asha 5XX Phone
Nokia Asha 503 is the first phone of the new Asha Platform to get 3G and it’s majorly targeted towards users who loved the platform and want to upgrade themselves to 3G as the Asa 501 only supports 2G on both the SIMs. That said the new Asha 503 supports 3G on one SIM while the other one stays on 2G mode. Like Asha 500 and 502, Asha 503 has a dual shot rear panel which can be taken out. The dual shot case really makes Asha phones stand out compared to the plastic phones in the same range. The dual shot case makes it look like having a case on top of the phone and it gets a glassy candy like look which for some reason reminds me of the Fox’s candies.
Asha 503 is a much upgraded version of both Asha 500 and 502, has the display is an LCD ( 7.62 cm) with Corning® Gorilla® Glass which adds some good protection to the screen. Compared to Asha 500 and 502, it’s a capacitive two-point touch instead of multi-touch point.
The phone has a 5 MP camera with flash and can be launched by just swiping up on the display to quickly take a picture. This camera can be accessed right from the lock screen. The image capture resolution is 2592 X 1944.
Also the phone has a 1200 mAh battery which will make it last longer than other Asha phones but since it’s 3G, we need to check on how it actually performs when put to some real usage.
While a lot has changed outside not much has changed from inside the phone. The micro SD card and the second SIM slot are on sides while the main SIM gets inside the battery. That said the outside of the phone is a big fingerprint magnet because of the glossy finish.
The Biggest news is on the software part which now has Whats App per-installed in the Asha Platform. Apart from this you also get to see Line and WeChat. There is a minor change in the platform and I will suggest you to check out details here and comparison between them here
