Nokia Music Now Allows Forward & Rewind of MP3s, Facebook App Improves Performance

Two major apps on Windows Phone got updates which majorly point towards performance improvements. Facebook’s “Press Back Go to Top of News Feed” is fixed while Nokia Music now allows you to forward and rewind MP3 on your phone. Though Facebook failed to give any details on change log, dug around a bit; Nokia Music has a complete change log.

Facebook Update.

  • Every time you press back, it no longer takes you to the top of the News Feed. This usually happened when you were viewing a link or when watching a slide show of the images. So basically anything that was like pop up. Now it returns to exactly where you left it.
  • Apart from these I see improvements in app performance. You can see News Feed loads faster than before.

Thanks @skipper6875 for this.

Also, when we took a look at the app page, it said “Improved performance, support for multiple resolutions and tile sizes plus more!”. Though we see improved performance but the latter is confusing. I guess this line was included sometime back.

Nokia Music:

The first improvement you will love about this update is ability to forward and rewind your MP3. This works when you long press the Next and Previous skip buttons. You should see the progress bar moving back or forward a bit faster than usual. (Thanks @LPmathur for this). However this feature still does not work with Windows Phone 7.8 phones with Nokia Music but works with Zune and Volume dock.

Nokia Music Live Tile

The second update makes Live Tile pretty. You can now see Artworks for the tracks you are playing. This can be either from the mixes or your mp3 songs.

Nokia Music Forward brewind

When it comes to downloading mixes, you can now download them in background as the app makes sure that it’s not interrupted by the screenlock. Others are just performance improvements.

Update: According to Nokia Conversation post there are couple of more features we missed.

  • You can redeem vouchers  using NFC
  • You can track your music history. This tells you which music you been listening to lately.

Now One thing that happened with me was pretty odd. All the MP3 stopped playing. Reinstalling the app did not work and I had to delete my songs and import it again. Anybody else see anything else?
