Nokia rolls in Offline MWC 2013 app for Windows Phone 8

Nokia always fills in things which is missing and does it damn good. MWC doesn’t have proper app for Windows Phone and so Nokia made one for all the Nokia Lumia Phones running Windows Phone 8.

The heavy weight app download size is 25 MB because it’s completely offline and that’s where you are going to love it. So if you are lost in the event, cannot find the booth, you can check on Venue Maps without Internet connection.

Features of MWC 2013 App by Nokia

Agenda:

You can not only view Nokia events but the entire MWC exhibitors, speaker, agenda, including the tracks for Conference, Featured Programme and Seminars

You have three sections here. Conferences, Featured  Programs and Seminars. Each of these can be Added to favourites and calendars. It is also possible to share them over NFC or Social Network. If you are lost, hit the map button to find where it is.

Share Profile:

You can create a quick profile of yours which can include your name, phone no, email id, company name and linked in id. This can be then shared through NFC.

Maps & Navigation:

• Nokia Map & Nokia Drive : This will help you launch Nokia Drive or any other Navigation Application App.
• AR @ Barcelona: This is the Augment reality app which lets you hold your camera and find what you have around you. Food, Restaurants etc. I hope this can help me find an exhibitors also!!

Venue Map :

This gives you offline maps of the MWC Area and each hall. The best part of individual halls is that you can view which exhibitors are available. So if you have an appointment with any of them, you can just easily filter and find them quickly.

Exhibitors:

Each of the exhibitors can be added to your favourites list. This does not require any login using the MWC credentials.  Hence if you have already marked using apps on Android,

Lock Screen: Reminds you of the next upcoming event in lock screen and live tile. Apart from there you can also read the latest social media feed from MWC, listen to some Spanish Music.

Summary :

Nokia has done it really well and this is another great example of how an app should be done.  Making it completely offline is seriously a great idea. I really wish I could have used my MWC Login.
