Nokia Solutions and Networks might get $200 Million Deal with Vodafone India

Nokia Solutions and Networks, a wholly owned subsidiary of Nokia Corporation is likely to bag a $200 million deal with Vodafone India for upgrading its 2G and 3G networks. Vodafone India is likely to mandate NSN India to enhance capacities in 19 second-generation (2G) and six third-generation (3G) networks.

In the deal, which involves supply of higher capacity base stations, switches and core network systems by NSN for both 2G and 3G platforms, will make Vodafone network ready to handle an expected surge in data traffic amid improved mobile broadband coverage and increasing smartphone penetration in India.

Vodafone India, the country’s second-largest mobile phone operator, but does not have 4G license to operate in India, so it might be looking to upgrade its 3G network. India is one of the biggest mobile phone market which is expanding at a huge pace.

As of now there is no confirmed news on this deal, but if it goes through, it would be a big deal for NSN.
