Nokia X / Normandy to Include Nokia Store, Looks More Like Asha
For past few days, quite a lot rumours on Nokia’s so called Android phone has emerged and people are expecting Nokia to released a full fledged Android phone. The phones, supposedly called Normandy is expected to be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress in February. Now, we have some more details on the device, mostly the specs as first leaks showed the device in pictures.
From the leaked specs of the device, it seems more of an Asha than an Android phone.

Here are some of the leaked specs of the device:
- It is called Nokia X
- 2 x 1GHz Snapdragon
- 4inch WVGA display
- 512MB and 4GB internal memory
- Support for microSD card
- 5MP camera
- 1500mAh battery
- Nokia Store + 3rd party
- Dual-SIM
- 6 colors
From the leaked specs, one important thing to note is that it has Nokia Store + 3rd party app support. Now if it s going to be Nokia Store, then there is no point calling this phone Android as Play store access is not there. From the specs and leaked image, we still believe this is going to be a new version of Asha rather than an Android.
While we can still argue, the idea of Asha phones was to move them intro Windows Phone ecosystem because both Asha and Windows Phone has social integration in the phones. The UI which we see above is in very close to Windows Phone UI which any new users once addicted will move to an phone which offers them the same. It’s the same story with Android and that’s one reason Android users don’t feel like switching because they are too hooked to the UI.
Also with our experience of Asha devices and consumer interaction, they found the phone pretty small and this could be a game changer for Asha users who would love a better interface and a bigger device. Lets see how the ball rolls in future.
