Nokia XL Hands On

At the Mobile World Congress (MWC 2014) in Barcelona, Nokia has announced its first Android phone. The Nokia X series phones will run a custom version of Android (AOSP) and will have an interface very similar to Windows Phone 8. There are three devices launched in the Nokia X series, the Nokia X, X+ and the XL. As the name indicates XL is the biggest of them with a 5.0 inch display and runs on 768MB RAM and dual core Snapdragon processor.

There is also a 5MP camera with LED flash and a 2MP front facing camera. The device comes with 4GB internal memory which can be expanded to 32GB via micro SD card. The device is very similar to Nokia Lumia and Asha phones in the design and colors. We had a hands-on of the device from the Nokia Press event and here are some of the photos of the device.

The device comes with the similar Fastlane experience which can be found on the Nokia Asha 5XX series phone. It also comes pre-installed with social networking apps like Twitter, Facebook etc. It also comes pre-installed with Opera Mobile browser along with the Nokia Xpress browser. BBM also comes pre-installed with the device.

The Nokia X series is the next step to bring Windows Phone like interface to emerging market. Even though its Android it doesn’t feel like Android because of the experience you get. Nokia Mix Radio, Here Maps, Tiles, Folders and OneDrive integration out of the box will make sure users get attracted to interface than to the Android. Nokia XL is pretty smooth and we would love to recommend this phone to somebody who is looking for a big screen phone with quality.
