OEMs can Build Custom Lock Screen for Windows Phone 8.1 with GDR1
Microsoft has a dedicated website for OEM who opt in to make Windows Phone which lists all the changes of any update. In fact it’s the first place where all detail show up than anywhere else so the OEM can prepare so. Few days back this place revealed stuff about Windows Phone but the data was private.
Today or Yesterday, something changed. Everything is public now and more technical detail about 81 GDR1 is detailed on the website. There are two most interesting thing I found in the list. OEM can build custom lock screen and qHD is not supported for devices up to 6 inch which means low-end phones will have better display. Here are the important ones from the list.

OEMs Can make a custom lock screen solution: OEM can make their own lock screen and they can use the Lock screen snapshot API reference to get the default lock screen data, and then they can display this data on their custom lock screen.
Native qHD resolution is now supported on diagonal screen sizes up to 6″ and on phones that use the MSM8x12 applications processor. The resolution here is 540 X 960.
Phone Cover App: OEMs can create and register this type of app to roll in accessories and create a user experience.
Block using SD card for updates : OEM can either allow or block the use of the SD card for phone updates.
Store Live Tile: OEM can turn off the Store live tile and prevent the OS from using cellular data to update the Store live tile in the background.
