One Million Old & Unused Xbox Gamertags will be Up for Grab from Tomorrow

If you always wanted a gamertag, only not to be available, Xbox team is releasing nearly 1 million old Gamertags that has been abandoned from the Original Xbox Console days. Major Nelson mentions that the accounts associated with these gamertags never migrated to Xbox 360, and has been active for quite sometime. These gamertags will be released on Wednesday May 18th

Microsoft has announced that nearly 1 million old Gamertags that were abandoned for the original Xbox console will be made available for current Xbox Live Gold members to claim starting on Wednesday, May 18.

  • Some of those Gamertags include Proper Names, Pop culture references (Entertainment, sports, gaming), Types of Food, Geography and Travel, Science and Technology, Math and Numbers, Animals, Some of the greatest inventions of all time
  • They will be released over a 24-hour period starting at 2 p.m. Eastern Time (11 a.m. Pacific Time) on Wednesday.
  • Xbox Live Gold members must be both currently active and have at least one cumulative year of membership to stake their claim on these Gamertags.
  • These gamertags will be only available through XBOX.COM,  Xbox App on Windows 10 and on the Xbox One console
  • This will not be available via XBOX 360.
  • You will need XBOX LIVE Account to get these gamertags.

Microsoft hasn’t published any list of these gamertags, so it will up to the gamers which combination they want to pickup, but if you really know somebody, you just might be lucky!!
