March 1st embarks the start of the Reliance JIO Prime membership for all existing, and new Pre-paid and post-paid Jio SIM / Numbers or Subscribers. It not only gets you free voice, and SMS plans, but you also get the low-cost data plans, and Jio’s suite of applications – JIO Music, JIO Movies, etc – which is free for the next one year.  Jio Prime Membership plan is for one year, and you will have to subscribe again next year.

As of now the JIO Prime Membership is for those who subscribe to by March 31st, but I expect it to be more of a marketing strategy, and it might just work post that too. Below is the Jio Prime membership offer:

As you can see it clearly states that you first need to recharge with JIO Prime offer, and then only you get options to subscribe to JIO Plans or Packs which starts at Rs 149. The best plan to pickup IMO is Rs 399 which offers you 1 GB data per day which is more than enough for average usage. However, if you stream movies from the internet through services like Netflix,  it’s wise to choose Rs 499 plan which offers 2 GB data per day and is data validity for 56 days.

Next, Tap to open it, and you will have two offers in the next screen – ‘Get Jio Prime and ‘Gift Jio Prime. Tap on ‘ Get Jio Prime’ and the next screen offers you option to subscribe to the plan.

Now here is the catch. If you are a postpaid user, you will be able to immediately subscribe to the plan by just tapping on it. It will appear in your next billing cycle. Prepaid users will have to recharge their Jio SIM either using credit or debit card or using the Jio Money.

Those who cannot use either of these, it is best to get to your closest Reliance digital store to get your number recharged with the Rs 99 add-on pack to activate Jio Prime membership.

Once the Jio Prime Membership is activated,  go to Recharge, and will have all the new plans (screenshot above) to subscribe to. The payment has to be made via the same method.

Those who still have the Jio Happy New Offer, they don’t need to subscribe to the Additional Packs till 31st of March, but only grab the Jio Prime Subscription, and recharge with additional packs starting April 1st.

Update: Jio Prime Membership Plan Server issues: Are you facing it?
