Recovery Tool for Windows 10 for Phone Technical Preview Confirmed

A couple of days back, Microsoft’s Gabriel Aul pointed that there will be a way to roll back option if the Preview makes your go bonkers. Today he confirmed that there will be a recovery tool for all the phones that are supported for the preview. Remember, Technical Preview will not be rolled out for all devices right now.  This at least gives you enough boost to go and try the Windows 10 for Phone Technical Preview.

There are few things that is still not know to us. I have asked on it, but this is what I would want to know:

  • If this is a PC based tool which restores Windows Phnoe 8.1 version.
  • Restore is restoring the phone to its previous state or do we need to start from scratch, and use the Backup/ Restore Process.

The easiest way way from a consumer perspective would be if an image of the phone is saved on the PC and the same can be used to restore. It will be also able to save the data, but you will need to have enough space on your hard disk as mirror of the phone will be around  5 to 10 GB if you have photos, videos and everything on phone.
