Registry Backup & Restore App for unlocked Windows Phone (Homebrew)
This is a nice treat for all those courageous Windows Phone users who had been messing up with their registry settings only to be left to find it no where or could not fix it. XDA Developer, EaterOfCorpses , has developed a Registry Tool for unlocked Windows Phone devices.
How the app works ?
The App lists down the parts of registry like HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT etc and you can select any of them and back it to the root of your phone as .REG file. This file can be named by you to help you remember when & why you took it. To backup, use the I want to Apply a REG file and choose the backup file you named earlier.
To make this tool work on your phone, you should be able to install the xap and use the WP7 Root Tools to give it root permission else it will exit in between. Also make sure not to use your phone while the backup and restore is in progress else it might cause issues.
Drawback :
The problem with this tool is that it’s not a solution for a complete registry backup as it does it part by part which makes it bit difficult to use, but since mostly people who are going to use it, will be able to handle it.
It will be also be great if the app has integration with Skydrive to back up and restore because keeping on the phone will make no sense unless you can export it out using some file browse tools. In case you do, make sure you do not apply on your computer else it might cause issues.
