Report: Amazon working on Alexa connected ‘Smart Glasses’ coming this Christmas

Amazon has been most successful when it comes AI based Digital Assistant, and its Speakers. While Google is all set to announce its new Google Mini Smart Speaker, and Microsoft is nowhere to be seen with its Harman Kardon Invoke speakers, now reports are coming in that Amazon is working on another product–Smart Glasses–which will work with Alexa.

These normal looking glasses connect with Alexa powered speakers over Bluetooth, and let you hear what Alexa replies back, and also send queries using its inbuilt microphone. These glasses, unlike Google or HoloLens glasses, do not have any display or camera. The biggest advantage of using them is that you can have your prescribed glasses fit into it, and then just keep talking to yourself, and get all answers without disturbing anybody, and also keep up with your privacy.

This news first appeared on FT, and then reported by Engadget, also share that Amazon’s top-secret Lab126 group is also working on home-security products. This one is a particularly connected security camera.

Looks like Amazon is making sure that when it comes to Alexa, there are multiple choices for consumers, and they are not just stuck to speakers. The idea of wearing a smart glass like this is to replace any regular Bluetooth headset, and just use this, and without a camera or a screen, it should deliver great battery life.

These eyeglasses are expected to come by the end of the year, presumably in time for Christmas.
