Review & Giveaway : Amzer Double Layer Hybrid Case with Kickstand for Lumia 1020
When it comes to cases we all want a case which not only looks beautiful but also protects your costly phone completely. Sadly, this is something yet to be achieved. So when we looked at the Amzer ‘s Double Layer Hybrid Case with Kickstand, we thought this could probably give me a bit of style and protection both. Here is our review after using it for around 10 days.

Build & Design
This case from Amzer can be a great alternative to those who don’t want to spend a lot on protective cases. Cases from XXX cost a lot and it terribly takes away the look but with this case, you find a mid way option. You get style, protection and pay less.
The case can be separated into two parts. One which is made up of rubberized material and other of plastic. While the rubberized material section completely covers the phone from all sides, the plastic case acts as secondary layer and lock the inner layer with the phone. Imagine the plastic section as lock the box.
Once done, it’s rock solid lock which is tough to break. In case your phone slips away, chance are that it will fall on the corners which is covered by the rubberized material and should take most of the pressure and if it falls straight down, the plastic should take care. That said, I am not guaranteeing that nothing will happen to the phone but chances are that nothing will happen.
The plastic section is matte finished and gives better grip and rest is taken care by the rubberized material section.
The combination of both the materials are blended well to give it a manly look and the phone does feel bigger and gigantic after putting it on. It will be almost like a brick with look and feel of Lumia 1020 taken away.
Kickstand: The case has a kickstand which makes it very convenient to keep the phone in landscape or portrait mode. It comes handy when you want to keep an eye on your phone for notifications or watch a movie.
Durability:
While I haven’t dropped my phone using this case but it should do a good job. The only issue one can feel is the kickstand which has a support from inside and it’s weak plastic. My son was able to bend it easily. I was lucky enough to realize that in time. So make sure to be careful about it. The case will collect loads of dust as you keep using it. Even the rubberized materials stock dust on sides and button sides.
Usability: How comfortable was the case when using it all the time ?
While using the case was not an issue at all, my phone just got bigger. The buttons, camera and all other ports were free which means I was using the features as is without any compromise. Since the kickstand can be used horizontally, I was able to charge up my phone while keeping the screen on to check on emails though horizontal start screen was looking really odd.
One of the major issues was taking the case on and off. Since the case is built of two parts and it’s tight fit, you really need to be sure else you may break the plastic part. Yup, I wrote it right.
When putting it on, first take off the plastic section and place your phone in the rubberized section. Next fit in the case you got to work a bit hard for that. Best way is to put in the top section first and then side and finally the bottom. The button cuts will pop out but you can slowly push it in. The same thing happens when you try to take it out. Drawback: One minor issue I have faced with this case is that the caller’s voice gets cut off if the fitting is not done right. For some reason, I hear complains from the other side that my voice is not audible. I have adjust a bit here and there to fix this but that happened 50% of the time I had the case on. So Amzer does need to take a look into this.
Value for Money:
If you cannot spend lot of money on high end protective cases, its a good alternative which will make sure to protect your phone and also give you a kickstand which doesn’t come in all the cases. This is priced at 900 Rs in India and should be around 15 to 17 USD outside.
