Review : Basketball Challenge Pack, Kinect Sports Season 2

Basketball DLC or the Challenge Pack for Kinect Sports Season 2 was a surprise for me, but it turned to be a nice one after I played it along for a couple of days which is lot more exhaustive and if you are a true Sports Fan (on Kinect) I will highly recommend you to buy it, but if you just play it for fun, you can skip this DLC.

So whats in the Basketball DLC ?

Its not a complete game like other Sports Game that come with Sports 2  but It has three different modes :

  • 3 Point Hero
  • Shot Party
  • and Alley-oop Dreams.

If you already play Basketball you know what is 3 point, but for unknowns, in this mode you need to basket the balls from different distance in one minute. For every ball, that goes in you score, and there is a special, colorful ball which brings you additional 10 seconds of game play.

Basketball 3 Point Shoot

In Shot Party, You have set of circular disc moving before the basket which you need to break and then basket the ball. though you are allowed to break the green music discs but not the traditional black discs which take away 5 second for each hit you make.  Timing is what matters here a lot.

Basketball Party Shot

Alley-oop Dreams is where you learn to pass on balls correctly in the right direction and right timing to your team mates who are on the way to the basket and waiting for you to throw the ball.  The catch here is not to pass the ball to the red team which steal a couple of seconds if they get their hands on the ball. Also, here you have players coming in different ways e.g. Jumping and Running, so either you need to jump and throw or just pass.

Basketball Ally-oop

My Gaming Experience :

Its pretty exhaustive as you need to continuously jump and throw the ball and since its timed you just cannot wait to catch a breath.

Playing and scoring is petty easy if you keep your body and hand petty speed and don’t shift your position. So once you jump and throw the ball, you need to get back at the same location else the ball in the next throw will be off the mark.

Overall its a fun to have DLC for die hard Kinect Gamers, though many of you might be bit disappointed because its not a complete basketball game  but probably we will see a full version in the next Sports version.
