Review : WOXOM Slingshot for Mobile Video Stablization
When using your Windows Phone for recording a video at home party or a family picnic, we all face one common problem — The videos are shaky. No matter how stable your hands are, it is not enough to keep the phone stable even when standing. Even though Lumia 920 solves this problem using OIS, but not every Windows Phone has this feature.
So we got in touch with WOXOM team for their amazing product — Slingshot which helps to get rid of this shakiness to a great extent. This product was a Kickstarter listing.
Video Review:
Design:
Like its name, it is designed like a slingshot. The cradle holds the camera while the handle is used to hold the complete unit. Then you can move around to record a stable video.
The stand also has a pair of legs which when popped out, turn the stand into a stable mount. You can use it by your side to keep an eye on the live tiles and notifications, make a Skype call or even watch movies.

The same arrangement can be used to shoot videos of events happening in the camera view.
There is a round ball arrangement between the cradle and the handle. This portion helps you almost every possible angle. However the pongs are not strong enough to hold the weight of the phone when you lower it little extra.

Build Quality:
There are two parts of this unit. The upper unit also called as the Cradle is made of Derlin, which is quite sturdy and flexible. Many of you might be thinking that the cradle may lose its elasticity with time but in fact, no matter how much you bend it, it will stay intact. So, while you don’t have to worry about anyone stepping on it, do take care of your phone while using it.

The lower unit or the stand is what you need to be careful about. Though it’s pretty solid, I don’t want anybody stepping on it. The pongs which helps to get it stable over a flat table are springy but again I don’t want to push for testing.

How to use it:
Using this is very simple. First, you need to place your phone within the cradle, turn on video recording and then use the handle to hold and record the video. Don’t be afraid to pull the tongs little wider to fit in your phone. They also make sure that it wont fall either.
That said, video recorded with this will be more stable when compared to using two hands. However, if you yourself are moving a lot, the shakiness will appear. So if you stand still and move your hands, the video will be great.
The Extra Features:
One of the most important features of this product is that the cradle, which holds the phone, can be used with any standard tripod or camera mount. This becomes very useful if you want to use your phone with other holders which could be a professional tripod or even the gorilla tripods.
