Samsung Planning to Release Windows Phones in 2015- Report

Although Samsung was an OEM when Windows Phone was announced initially few years back, they haven’t released any new devices last year and their primary focus was on Android and their own Tizen OS. But according to a Korean Times report, Samsung might be coming back to Windows Phones in 2015. Samsung’s last Windows Phone announced was the ATIV S.

According to reports, Samsung Electronics is considering releasing cheaper handsets running on Microsoft’s Windows 8.1 platform. The main issue here is the legal dispute going on between Microsoft and Samsung over royalties.

The report also states that if the dispute is settled, then Windows Phones from Samsung could be arriving in third quarter of 2015 at the earliest.

“By releasing a Windows mobile, Samsung could manage its phone business in the low-, mid-, to premium-end sectors.” according to the official from Samsung.

We will have to wait and see how this goes and when the dispute between the two companies get settled. Right now we do have some budget phones in India from local player since the past 6 months or so.
