Need for Space — SanDisk 128Gb microSDXC Works with Lumia 1520

While Windows Phone claims to support only up to 64 GB of SD card, WPC reports that one Windows Phone user was able to make the Sandisk’s newly released 128 GB  microSDXC card with Lumia 1520.

While that amount of space definitely is “OMG I WANT IT”, it does not come cheap. The card is listed on Amazon for  USD 119.99 and could serve as an ultimate storage section for your music and movie cravings.  Taking one step ahead,  Windows Phone 8.1 will allow few apps to move to SD card and this storage would be handy if it works on other phones as well.

The user who reported about it also shared that this card has no issues when video is recorded and directly saved on it or when you play a music file from it. It’s an important factor keeping in mind you will be moving Movies and Pictures location right away to SD card. Also the card is faster by 20% compared to its 64 GB version.

After I checked  over to the forums to know what else has been tested. Here are few things to know before you buy.

  • There is a minor frame rate drop for 1080/30fps video while 720p/30fps, it is all good.
  • SD card write speed is 9.61 MPBS which puts it into a Class 10.
