Send “I will be late” message from Windows Phone 8 Calendar Appointment

If you are running late for an appointment scheduled in a couple of hours, Windows Phone 8 calendar app has an inbuilt feature which allows you to send email to all the attendees for that meeting.

How to send:

  • Launch the calendar app and go to the date for which the appointment is scheduled.
  • Tap to open the appointment and you should see 4 icons on the menu bar.
  • One of the icons will have a man running.
  • Tap on it, and it will launch the email app with default text already filled in the body of the email. It will also fill in the email id of the Optional Guests and Required guests.

There is no more configuration allowed for this, and hence you cannot have a pre-defined message of your own.

Update :  This feature is present in Windows Phone 7.5 and sending SMS is allowed when you have a number associated with that contact. Seems the guest I used had no mobile number and hence the option was not available. Thanks Jeevan!!
