Sending Multiple Contacts via Bluetooth in Windows Phone 7.8

Nokia has rolled in lot many apps for Windows Phone 7.8 users to keep up with the lack of Windows Phone 8 features. Contact Share app is of those apps which allow to transfer contacts via Bluetooth, Email or even messaging. In this post we will learn how to transfer multiple contacts using this app.

  • Download the app from here or scan the QR Code at the end of this post.
  • Best is first pair the phones over Bluetooth.
  • Launch the Contacts Share App and wait for few seconds till it builds the contact list. Seems this is in real-time and does not maintain a cache somewhere.
  • Once contact list appear, they can be seen under Contacts Screen with sortable keys.
  • Select any of the contact, then choose what you want to send.
  • Next screen asks if you would want to send by Email, SMS and Bluetooth.

Now what if you want to send out multiple contacts? Contacts Share app allows you to do that but the option is hidden in the menu bar. Hit the menu bar and choose “Select Many Contacts”.

This will show the check boxes right next to the contacts but you will be limited to choosing only  up to 15 contacts. Once selected, you can choose the type of basic details you want to share for any contact i.e. Picture, Name, Mobile, Home, Work, Email etc. Sadly there is no option to select individual details.

Tips :

  • Use Filter Contacts to trim down the load time in the app. Since most of us have Facebook, Twitter also connected, the app just takes hell lot of time.
  • There is no way you can choose individual details of any contact during multiple contact sharing. So make sure you know what you are going to share if privacy is your concern.

Overall the app works but still needs a lot of work to be done. It’s not only slow but  sometimes the contact transfer fails. Not sure if it’s the problem with Windows Phone 7.8 Bluetooth or the app itself.
