Want to Know About All Those Sensors on Your Nokia Lumia? Try Sensor Emitter
Strictly for Geeks!!
Every smartphone has tons of sensors inside it which makes Human Machine interaction possible. In simple words it means, those sensors help you to use apps like Compass to find direction and know how you are holding your phone.
Nokia Lumia phones also have a couple of sensors like Accelerometer, Gyroscope and Compass. These sensors are so important that without them you wont be able to play games, switch your screen orientation and many apps wont work.
Philip Daubmeier, 27, of Ingolstadt, has developed an app, Sensor Emitter which helps you find those technical details sensors send out. Though the data for a regular user will never make sense but the developer has taken a lot of time to input details on the “Know How” of the sensor for everybody. This means if you never knew what a sensor can do, this is where you start from.

The application also comes with a companion PC application. The phone can connect to the application which displays the orientation of phone i.e. how you are holding it. You can download the PC application from here.

The app was developed as part of his thesis where he used Phone sensors and Kinect to find if someone is sitting down or standing or sleeping. Even though it’s not for everyone, if the developers want to have a look at the code, they may find it useful. Find more about this on the official Nokia Conversation Blog.
Note: Not every sensor is available in every phone. Chances are if you have a low-end phone, one or two sensors might be missing. The app is available for both Windows Phone 8 and Windows Phone 7.5 phones.
