This is How You Share Internet over Bluetooth in Windows Phone

So we all got excited yesterday when GDR 1 update to Windows Phone 8.1 Dev preview started rolling out with one amazing feature–Internet Sharing Over Bluetooth. This is a brand new feature which makes it possible to share internet to those feature phones where you don’t have either a high-speed internet or just don’t have internet at all.

Steps:

  1. Go to Settings > Internet Sharing > Select Bluetooth as source to share internet
  2. Now turn on Bluetooth in the device you want the internet, in my case it was Android, and pair it with your Windows Phone
  3. Once done, open Bluetooth Settings in that device i.e. one where you want the internet, and find your Windows Phone in the list of paired device
  4. Tap on the settings icon of your Windows Phone from which you are sharing the Internet
  5. Enable the profile which says “Internet Access”

  7. Done this, Internet will be available in the device now. Also you would see the device connected in the Windows Phone Internet Sharing settings

You can connect up to 7 devices over Bluetooth. Also there is an option which allows Bluetooth devices to switch sharing from WiFi to Bluetooth. This comes in handy if you want to turn off WiFi but use bluetooth instead. However, make sure those devices were paired once and had Internet Access enabled.
