Sky Cups : Time to Break Some Cups on Windows Phone
Since the past few weeks, the number of games joining Windows Phone ecosystem has increased compared to regular apps, with the latest entrant being Sky Cups.
The Gameplay:
Designed on basic principles of Match 3 where you need to have three similar objects in a row to clear it up; Sky Cups is Vertical row gameplay where you need to slide in cups to existing column of cups such that you make a rack of three and then it breaks. There is a cute little piggy on top of this column and you need to bring him down safely.
Breaking Cups:
What makes this game different is you can slide in cups from two sides and add it to the column and you can add any where your fingers can slide and reach. Two things make this game challenging. First is changing cups on both the sides. It definitely changes based on what cup you might need but it also randomizes and switches places which can make you put a wrong cup if you are way too fast. Second, as you move up the levels, you have way too many type of cups to handle and you need to be quick and sharp to really do well here.
The game for some reason reminds me of Fruit Ninja where you swipe your finger way to many times except that you are breaking cups then cutting fruits. However, I do see myself snapping at the Start button or search button way to often which is kind of distraction but fast resume of the app makes sure to get you back where you where.
Exploding Bombs:
There are some cups which just don’t break and only ice freeze and exploding bombs can help you there. They show up in place of cups and you can place them to get rid of set of cups which are in your way to go down or just break all the cups if you get too many of them in a row. Why hurry? because you have countdown on the left which not only decides how many starts you would get but also how long you can play.
Levels / Achievements / Environments :
90+ levels are more than enough to keep you busy for months; 35+ achievements & trophies and 5 different environments to keep your game fresh. There is a Plate Shop available if you want to get even better looks which have different capabilities when it comes to breaking because of freeze and bonds.
