Skype Mobile App gets Snapchat-style Photo Effects
Microsoft is working really hard to make Skype a perfect platform, and while the Skype Mobile app still……doesn’t really work, except for the Lite version, the company is now rolling out Snapchat-style photo effects for iOS and Android.
These effects will let you make face stickers, captions, and works on every photo including your selfie. To use this, Microsoft has its in-house magic wand button, and you can keep swiping to try different effects. It includes celebrity lookalike, smart face sticker, location and weather, and mystery face swap. Skype team suggest you to keep trying them now, and then as they keep updating it.
Microsoft is using its Sprinkles project to get this done. Its an image processing service developed by the Bing image search team. It uses relevant inputs and factors from your image to personalize and make your images more fun and useful. It’s more than just adding effects, and of course, they will need an internet connection to work.
The service might detect objects in your image, take into account time and day, and provide personalized and unique content in the form of captions or stickers.
Sprinkles searches for all relevant factors and provides results based on content available within the service. And to continually iterate and improve Sprinkles, we aggregate all images that run through the service to identify ways to make it and our underlying models better – like better content placement and when and where to provide you Sprinkles results.
