How do You Store a Temporary Contact in Windows Phone — Discuss

It’s common that none of us carry a pen or have a small piece of paper to note down few things that is being told while in a conversation on the phone. The most common thing one notes down is a Phone Number of a contact you need to call right after or later. In this post I am going to share how I do it and share an app which makes life a little easier. However, I would like to know how you handle this situation.

Storing Temporary Contact in Windows pHone

My Practice:

Using the keypad is almost useless because as soon as the call ends, the text gets away and there is no option to save it while in call. One option is use create a contact immediately using the people hub while you hear the call on the speaker or earphone. It needs to be like that because if I keep putting phone back on the ear to hear the number, it will switch me back to dial pad every time.

The second option which I end up using most of the time is OneNote, which is built into a Windows Phone. I have it pinned all the time on start screen and anything I need to note down, I just use that. Three reasons. One, I don’t have to keep adding numbers to my contact book all the time. Second, it syncs with SkyDrive / OneDrive and is accessible over the web or my Windows 8.1 PC. Third, OneNote gives me freedom to add whatever I want, text, numbers, image and so on.

An App that simplifies this task

Temp Contacts is an app which is built keeping these issues in mind. The app is basically a contact book app which lets you note down details in proper fashion. You can add First Name, Last Name, Phone, Email and location. Once done, it appears in the contact list from where you can do the regular operations like making a call, sending an email or find directions.

The next step is if you want to have it in your people hub permanently, if yes, just long press any contact and sync it. It will import it into one of your email account and make it permanent. If you want to discard, you can multi-select and delete it. The app also lets you sync with SkyDrive.

The only thing missing in the app and where One Note wins is ability to add notes. I would love to have a notes field for every contact which I can use to remind myself why I need to get in touch with the person.

What do you do?

These are my ways and an app that I use. Now, I am curious what do you do to save temporary contacts ? Do you email yourself, use OneNote, take screenshot or what. Let us discuss this in comments and tell us your interesting ideas of saving contacts.
