Strata–Great with Matching Patterns? Try This on Windows Phone

When it comes to puzzles, matching, strategy there are tons of games available in Windows Phone marketplace but there are really few which do it both beautifully and out of the way. Today we got tipped about this new game Strata which exactly falls in the category of beautifully done and addictive category.

What is Strata ?

You have blocks, you have ribbons. You need to match colors on both such that the blocks have same color of the stripe at the end. Sound simple, Right? Even I thought so.

It’s like chess, you need to think ahead else you will have to undo everything and start again. Choosing the right sequence is the key and for that you need to imagine how it will look when ribbons cross each other.

Game Play:

On each level, you have blocks which can be range between 2 to X where X depends if the stage is 2×2 or 3×3. The blocks can be arranged equally or could be missing which is said as hollow here.

You get ribbon from two directions ( at least to the levels I have seen till now). You need to first choose color and then slide the ribbon towards the blocks. Though, its not needed, you do have arrows where you slide the ribbon to give you a sense of direction.

The colors of blocks are jig sawed so you have uneven distribution and  that’s what makes the game interesting. You need to follow the rule that the block color should match with ribbon color on the top.

As the levels increase, you have more blocks, more colors and the game gets even more challenging. However if you do get stuck, choose the help section to give you some hint.

The game is priced at 2.99$ or Rs 160 which is a bit high but if you are a puzzle gamer, it might be worth keeping in mind the design and overall game experience.  There is a trial in place which can help you decide.
