Stuck on 10586 on Windows 10 Mobile? You have an update

There are many devices, specially those which belonged to Windows Phone 8.1 era stuck on the last update 10586 branch, now have a security update rolling out. While this update doesn’t get you the Windows 10 Mobile Anniversary Update, it does bring some fixes, and we would highly recommend it. Specially, if you had used the Windows 10 Mobile upgrade App.

This update brings:

  • Increased stability of Microsoft Edge browser
  • Fixed NFC security bugs
  • Fixed Wi-fi security issues
  • Security updates to the W10M kernel and kernel-mode drivers

One important note though. Make sure to un-enroll from the Windows Insider Program using the Windows Insider app. If you are still there, these updates won’t show up for your phone at all.
