Review: Tech21 Impact Snap Case for Nokia Lumia 920

Lumia 920 is an awesome phone. It has tons of features due to which I gladly paid its hefty price tag. That said, it is also the heaviest phone in the market. So for any user if you combine the price and weight factor, the next thing which comes in mind is — What if the phone falls?

Now the good news is that even though Lumia 920 built is strong and can stand accidental falls, but there is no way it can keep your bad luck away. So this results in need of a case. I have been using almost all types of cases — Rock Flip Case, Amzer, Rock Naked Shell Case.  After using them for a while I decided to stick with Rock case.

Now when we were contacted to try the Tech21 Impact Snap Case, I thought it is just another case with good build quality. However after trying it out for a while, at par with the cases I’ve tried here. It’s not only strong, but it also has better grip, a lot better impact protection (even if it face falls on the ground) and light weight.

Grip: How good it is to hold

The case gives a very strong grip. There are two reasons for this. First, its matte finish and second, the way it folds around Lumia 920 even in the edges makes sure that it never slips your hand.

Usability: Very easy to put in and touch to take off.

This thing about cases that you never would like to take it out in regular basis is true. However when I compare this case with any other case, It’s the toughest when you want to get it off.

In fact when I was trying for the first time, I was really scared if it’s going to peal off part of the phone. The reason it’s not easy to take off is because it is built to be so. It tightens around the phone pretty strong making sure no dust or water can get in. The edges are covered and part of the case protrudes out which makes sure that the screen doesn’t get a beating when it falls on the face.

Protection:

The case is built using D3O® impact material . This material is used heavily on sports gears. where there is lot of impact i.e. Skating, Skiing. etc.

What makes this material special is the property that when the phone gets an impact, the molecules inside the case group together to distribute the impact. This makes sure the phone is protected.

Also, like I said above, the edges are lip shaped they protrude a bit by micro inches on the side. So when your phone falls on its front, the material uses its property to distribute to the force and makes sure the screen doesn’t get a hit.

Fingerprints and Dust:

It has its advantage of matte finish. No dust, no finger prints. The only marks you can get will be scratches when it gets rubbed real hard against a surface.
