Flight Factory : Must have App for Frequent Flyers using Windows Phone
If you been flying now and then, crossing continents and cities with no clue on how to track your flight status on Windows Phone — it’s time to close those web pages and switch to Flight Factory. This feature filled Windows Phone app driven by data from Flightstats gives you fresh updates on where your flight is and if your gate number changed.

If you are not aware, Flightstats is the de-facto site for getting the most accurate information about Flight details at any moment of time. It has its own web based interface which can be used to track flight but if you are travelling a lot, you need an app and that’s what Flight Factory is about.

Features of Flight Factory:
- Add and keep a list of Flights you are traveling. This can be done either using the Flight No. directly or by manually searching according to the route.
- When a flight has multiple trips, you get to know about it and you can choose your correctly. One advantage of this is you get to know where it is coming from and you can add that to tracking as well.
- Every flight you add, you get details such as gate departure, take-off, landing, and gate arrival times.
- Don’t want to take out your boarding ticket to check details like Seat No, Trip Info and any other detail– add it to the app. It can also take some quick notes.
- Supports Lock screen and Live tile.
- Add flight details to calendar for quick reminder.
- Get directions to airport.

I would like if the app can add notification feature for two things:
- Delays of earlier trip of flights if they have multiple trips. Many a time flights get delayed because there is a previous delayed trip and knowing that as well could be useful. Like you can see in the second image I had consecutive flights pinned to track any delay.
- Regular notification of any change that takes place.
That said, I used this app while I was on a trip recently and it really worked well. I was not wasting my time look for a printout or email to find out when the flight was and on top I knew my flight was on time.
However, there can be glitches in two forms. First if there is any delay in updating the status on FlightStats and second if the Airlines don’t update their flight status. The later happened with me. Sadly these are out of developer’s hand so it’s always a good idea to check with the flight over a call.

That said, the app comes at a high price of $4.99. Keeping in mind the data is pulled from a place which is pretty reliable and the app does a great job, it’s worth paying. I am sure only if you are frequent flier you would be doing that.
