Official NTES App for Windows Phone Arrives on the Platform

When it comes to apps for Government services, I really don’t get much excited because of the interface and experience. NTES App from Centre for Railway Information Systems just breaks this perception. National Train Enquiry System or NTES is India’s eye to where a train is right now and if it’s going to be late for its destination.

NTES App for Windows Phone

Well not only the app is beautifully done, it works well. Using the app you can find train-running related and real-time status queries for all trains of India, data of which is pulled from NTES servers. Those who are looking for official IRCTC App for Windows Phone, follow up this link

Features:

  • Spot your Train: Needs train no. or name, date of journey and station.
  • Live Station: Find out which trains are on the way to the station you are on in next 2 to 4 hours.
  • Train Schedule : Use the train no. to figure that out.
  • Train Between Stations makes it easy if nobody around is sure to tell you.
  • Cancelled, Diverted  & Rescheduled Trains

After using the app for sometime, I really loved its implementation as well. Less confusing, less searching and presentable data. So when you type in the train no, you don’t need to hit enter. It automatically finds it and lists it.

Train Search in NTES App

That said, one of the missing feature in the app is inter linking between pages. So for example, If I find a train, I would also like to know the stations in between and might want to pickup another station and so on. It’s a little complex to do it but it has its usefulness as we see in the most popular app for railways–The Indian Railway App on Windows Phone.

An Official NTES app for Windows 8 was launched sometime ago and it’s good to see it’s on Windows Phone 8 as well.
