Transfer Contacts and SMS from Windows Phone 7.x, Android and iPhone to Windows Phone 8
When you get a new smartphone, the biggest hurdle is moving your contacts and other files from the old phone to the new phone. Moving photos, videos and other multimedia files is pretty easy with USB cable, but moving contacts and SMS in particular is difficult. Now if you have recently moved to Windows Phone 8, then you can easily transfer all your contacts and SMS from Windows Phone 7.x, Android and iPhone using the free app Transfer my Data.
Transfer my Data is a free app from Nokia and is available for all Lumia phones. It is a quick and easy way of copying contacts and text messages from your old phone to your new Nokia Windows Phone using Bluetooth. Transfer My Data can copy your contacts seamlessly from almost any phone, be it Symbian, Android, iOS, BlackBerry, etc.
To get started, you need to switch on Bluetooth on both devices and start Transfer my data app on the new Lumia phone.

You can see your phone listed in the app. As mentioned before, it can be any Bluetooth enabled phone. When you connect to the device, you get a prompt on your phone asking whether you want to give access to Lumia phone.

Once you confirm this, the device searches for all the contacts on the phone. You get two options, one is to select contacts with the number of contacts available listed under it. This option is available for Android, iOS, Windows Phone 7.x, Symbian, BlackBerry etc. The second option to transfer Text Messages (SMS) is available only if the device is another Windows Phone.

The app will copy all the contacts and will confirm this once done.
The app is very useful if you are moving to a Nokia Lumia Windows Phone.
