Save Any Webpage’s Screenshot to OneNote Directly on Windows Phone

While the inbuilt ability of taking screenshots on Windows Phone remains my favorite way to capture what I see on the screen, if you are a heavy OneNote users and love saving webpage screenshots to your favorite note taking app, Mark (@BinaerForceOne) has a trick to share.

Windows Phone One Note Clip

OneNote Clip is a bookmark which I am sure power users use to save pages and stuff to their notes. It’s basically a JavaScript based bookmark for desktop browsers. Now if you using a Windows Phone and want to do the same, clippy doesn’t let you do it because IE on mobile doesn’t have an easy to way to do it.  So here is what you should do:

  • Go to  https://www.onenote.com/Clipper/OneNote and sign in with your account. Make sure to mark to remember yourself on the browser.
  • In case you get redirected or something, just reopen the same URL again. You should see a screenshot like you see below.

  • Now since there is no mouse and there is no way to hit those shortcut to directly save it to the browser, long press on the big button and select copy link.
  • Now tap on the browser menu bar and select favorites.
  • This will list all the favorites. Long press again on any of them and select edit.
  • In the next screen, paste that into the URL  portion. Rename the name field to something like !ONENOTECLIP
  • Next time you visit the page, tap on favorites and this time instead of editing, hit  !ONENOTECLIP and your webpage screenshot should be saved in OneNote.
  • The default location to save is Quick Notes.
  • That said you might have to do it once or twice to get it working which happened in my case.
