Video Demo of “Hey Cortana” Shows How it Works

One of the most exciting features of Lumia Denim Update is using Cortana, hands free. Based on passive voice activated technology and power of Snapdragon 80X processor, allows you to invoke Cortana and get some work done even if the phone is in standby or display off mode. This means this phone will work right on with Lumia 930 and Lumia 1520 as they use the 800 series Snapdragon.

Looking at the post and the video done by MSFTPlace, it seems Hey Cortana will work only in english right now. There is also a “How to Setup” feature which is similar to Xbox One Kinect setup done for voice commands. You need to in real quiet room to help the technology understand how you speak. You will also need to train the app a bit. Once done, you can use it from standby.

The phone gets unlocked as you say “Hey Cortana”, and does the job after that. I am guessing this should work under lock screen as well which might let anybody use it, but think the feature is pretty cool to show off. We will get to know more as we see the settings.

Those who think this like totally out of the world, its not. Google had been using this for a while, Microsoft has it on Xbox One already with Kinect.
